Career
Augusto Farfus’s professional career began in single-seaters. After moving to Europe, he competed in Formula Renault, winning the Eurocup Formula Renault title in 2001. He continued his rise by winning the Euro Formula 3000 championship in 2003.
Despite his open-wheel success, his path to Formula 1 stalled. In 2004, he made a pivotal career switch to touring cars, signing as a factory driver for Alfa Romeo in the European Touring Car Championship (ETCC), which soon became the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). He quickly established himself as a front-runner, finishing 3rd in the 2006 WTCC standings.
